Do You Need Emergency Dental Care?
If you’re experiencing any of the following, please contact us immediately. The sooner you’re seen, the better the outcome.
Severe toothache or sudden dental pain
Intense or persistent tooth pain can indicate decay, infection, inflammation or a cracked tooth. Ignoring it risks allowing the underlying problem to worsen.
Knocked-out or broken tooth
Accidents, sports injuries and falls can result in chipped, broken or dislodged teeth. Acting quickly significantly improves the chances of saving or restoring the tooth.
Facial swelling, infection or dental abscess
Swelling, a bad taste in the mouth, or fever may indicate a spreading infection. Dental abscesses should never be ignored, they require urgent professional care.
Lost filling, crown or bridge
An exposed tooth is vulnerable to sensitivity, further decay and fracture. Prompt assessment protects the remaining tooth structure.
Bleeding gums or soft tissue injury
Uncontrolled bleeding from gums, lips, tongue or cheeks following an injury or procedure should be evaluated by a professional as soon as possible.
Not sure if it's an emergency?

While You Wait — Managing Discomfort Before Your Appointment
These steps can help manage discomfort while you await your emergency visit. They are not a substitute for professional care however, so please call us as soon as possible.
Rinse with warm salt water: Gently rinsing helps keep the affected area clean and may reduce mild irritation or swelling.
Take over-the-counter pain relief: Appropriate medication taken as directed can help manage discomfort temporarily.
Control bleeding with gauze: Apply gentle pressure with clean gauze to manage minor bleeding from soft tissue injuries.
Avoid extremes of temperature: Stay away from very hot or cold food and drinks if the tooth is sensitive or exposed.
Keep a knocked-out tooth moist: If a tooth has been dislodged, keep it in milk or between your cheek and gum, and call us immediately.
Don’t chew on the affected side: Avoid putting pressure on the problem area to prevent further damage before treatment.
